Fred's Mexican Cafe in Old Town San Diego is well know for having some of the best Mexican food in the area.  Considering how well Fred's has done with locals speaks volumes considering that San Diego has hundreads of mexican restaurants.  Fred's Cinco de Mayo party (on May 5th for all you gringo's) is some of the best springtime fun to be had in San Diego... just be ready for things to get messy when the rediculously extensive tequila menu hits your table!
